Tradespeople buying credits. One credit is charged when you pick someone. We take no share of what you agree with them, which means we have no reason to push you towards a dearer quote.

What you pay the tradesperson is between you two

We never handle the money for the work, hold a deposit, or take a commission. If anyone on here asks you to pay us for the job itself, that is not us.

A good job post gets better prices

Tradespeople price for the worst case when they cannot see what they are dealing with. Two minutes of detail usually saves you money.

Don’t describe it smaller than it is

Calling a full replumb “a small leak” gets you cheap prices that get revised on the day. It also gets your job reported, because tradespeople paid nothing to reply but spent their time.

Two things you cannot undo

Everything else on here is reversible. These are not, so they are worth reading before you tap them.

Reading a price properly

An estimate is one figure, not a range, and stands unless the job turns out to be genuinely different from what you described. If one price sits far below the others, ask what it excludes before you pick — that gap is usually parts, or a second visit.

Letting someone into your home

This is the real decision, and it is the one we can help least with. So here is what we check and what we do not.

If something feels wrong

You are never obliged to let anyone in, even after picking them. If someone is at risk, contact the police or Rescue 1122 first — then tell us and we will act on the account the same day.
